MSBA AAAA Championship Judges

CHIEF JUDGE AND MUSIC PERFORMANCE
Patrick Flynn Hometown: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Mr. Flynn began his teaching career 37 years ago, and for the past 35 years as
the Director of Bands at Portage Central High School in Portage, Michigan.
Portage is a community of 48,000 and is the largest suburb of Kalamazoo.
He received his Bachelor of Music degree from Western Michigan University
and his Master of Education Leadership from Grand Valley State University. He
is in demand as a clinician, conductor, adjudicator and consultant for middle
school and high school concert bands, adjudicator for MSBOA, as well as high
school marching bands throughout Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Virginia,
Tennessee, Arkansas, Hawaii and Florida.
He serves as the MSBOA District 11 Vice President of Adjudication and has
been the Corporate Board President of Legends Performing Arts Association
(LPAA) since its inception in 2006. LPAA sponsors the 2019 Silver Medalist
Legends Drum & Bugle Corps & two-time DCI Open Class Bronze Medalist. He
is also a Contest Director/Coordinator, Event Coordinator and Event Staff
member with Drum Corps International (DCI) and travels all over the country
during the summer months. His wife Rennee is the chief tabulator with DCI.
